The International Young Professionals Academy (IYPA), in cooperation with our partner, the Mainz Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit), is organizing a two-part application workshop just for you!

Many students wish to gain practical experience and earn money during their studies. This session provides valuable insights into the legal framework for employment in Germany and offers helpful strategies for your job search.

The success of your application depends largely on the quality and professionalism of your documents. In Germany, numerous formal and content-related standards apply. The application process is considered one of the most demanding and detailed worldwide.

During this workshop, you will learn about the relevant standards and expectations. We will discuss the content and design of your CV and cover letter. You will develop the ability to read and understand job advertisements in order to tailor your cover letter accordingly .

  • Legal framework for taking up employment
  • Paths and strategies for your job search
  • Analysis of job advertisements
  • Introduction to German application standards
  • Discussion of cover letters and CVs
  • Tips for your personal documents

Your application has attracted interest – the job interview is coming up. Now it is up to you to convince the employer of your skills and competencies. Recognizing what makes you stand out is the first step toward effective self-marketing.

In this workshop, you will practice responding to typical interview questions used in Germany and learn how to present your personality, past achievements, and future goals in a strong and confident self-presentation.

Content:

  • Online interview vs. in-person interview – what to watch out for
  • Structure of a typical job interview
  • Typical questions – how to answer them convincingly!
  • Self-presentation exercises
  • Learn how to convince not only with your words but also with your body language and voice!
