About the Student Advisory Service for International Students

The International Office at Hochschule Mainz provides ongoing support throughout the student journey, offering clear, reliable advice and practical guidance. The International Advisory Service assists with both academic requirements and everyday life in Mainz.

Guidance is available on immigration and visa matters, including applications, extensions, and compliance requirements. Advice is also provided on employment regulations, covering part-time work, internships, and options after graduation. For those newly arriving in Mainz, support is offered with housing, local registration, and settling into a new environment.

Additional services include advice on travel and re-entry requirements, as well as signposting to wellbeing and financial support resources. Information on leisure activities is also available to help make the most of student life.

For any further questions or concerns, the team is always happy to help and provide support.

About the speaker: 

Marina Rußkamp is a student advisor for international (degree-seeking) students at Hochschule Mainz and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. With a degree earned in the U.S.A, she brings both professional expertise and personal insight into the international student experience.

She is committed to supporting students at every stage of their journey – from navigating visa applications and settling into life in Mainz, to building meaningful connections and preparing for career opportunities in Germany. Marina’s work is driven by her dedication to helping students feel confident, supported, and well-equipped to succeed both academically and professionally.
